Jane Mutisya

HR Projects Director and Customer Happiness Team Lead
Career Management Centre

Jane Mutisya is an award-winning HR thought leader, Certified Professional coach, and seasoned recruiter with over 15 years of experience in human capital strategy, leadership development, and workforce transformation. She has worked across diverse sectors, including the NGO, the private sector and consulting.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry from the University of Nairobi, Postgraduate qualifications in Human Resource Management, and is a Certified Coach from the Transformation Coaching Academy, Dubai. She is a Professional Member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM), a member of Women on Boards Kenya, and an Associate Consultant with the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE).

Jane has held senior HR roles in leading organizations, including Regional HR and Administration Manager at Practical Action Eastern Africa, HR Specialist at USAID/Chemonics, and HR roles at BBC Media Action and International Medical Corps. These experiences deepened her insight into building people systems that are both structured and adaptive to shifting workforce needs.

In March 2016, she founded Career Management Centre Ltd., where she serves as Managing Director, supporting organizations in recruitment, talent alignment, and leadership coaching.

Having practiced HR both before and after the enactment of the HR Management Professionals Act of 2012, Jane has witnessed the transformation of HR from an informal support function into a regulated, strategic profession. She has also experienced firsthand the challenges of employers prioritizing credentials over competencies, and the organizational costs of such misalignment.

Jane is especially passionate about bridging the gap between academia and the workplace through mentorship and competency, skills-based personal development. She has supported hundreds of professionals in navigating the transition from classroom knowledge to employability readiness — addressing the real-world disconnect between credentials and competencies. Her work emphasizes that success in today’s workforce requires not just qualifications, but the mindset, adaptability, and business acumen to deliver value.

Her thought leadership has earned her multiple accolades, including the prestigious HR Mentor Award by IHRM, the Iconic Woman Award from the International Women Parliament, and recognition as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Kenya’s Career Development Space.

She also serves on several boards, contributing her expertise in governance, people strategy, and organizational growth.

Jane firmly believes that when we abandon structure and standards, we lower the bar for entire professions and industries. To her, professionalism is not a title—it’s a commitment to doing things right, consistently and ethically.
